13th Annual Chili Fest Award Winners

The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association called for Chili Fest teams in September. Enthusiastically DTMSA welcomed 34 teams Friday morning as they filed onto South Broadway Street with decorations, costumes and award-winning chili recipes.  As the teams entertained the guests, a group of judges blind tasted a chili sample from each team. After sampling all 34 chili recipes, the judges came to a conclusion. TUPELO CVB ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP SCHEDULE

TUPELO, Miss. – The Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau (Tupelo CVB) will launch its second annual Tourism Leadership Program in December, 2012.  The program is a 6-month initiative to grow participant’s awareness of the tourism industry and is open to people working in Tupelo’s hospitality industry.  Each day is scheduled from 9am – 3pm.  Applications are being accepted by the Tupelo CVB now through October 15, 2012.  Applicants will be notified on November 12th if they have been accepted to participate in the program.  The program is free.  “We are pleased to be able to offer this...

The Healthy Tupelo Task Force named Grand Marshals of the 2012 Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade

The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association and Reed’s announced the Healthy Tupelo Task Force would be the Grand Marshals of 2012 Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade. The 2012 theme for the annual Reed’s Christmas Parade is “Have a Healthy Christmas.”  Organizers thought this would be very fitting since Tupelo was named the healthiest city in Mississippi earlier this year.  The Healthy Tupelo Task Force was started by Mayor Jack Reed, Jr. This task force’s goal is to make Tupelo the healthiest city in Mississippi. The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association (DTMSA) would like to introduce a new social media concept called Main and Me. Main and Me is an innovative way to give independently owned businesses an online presence through www.mainandme.com. Merchants, as well as consumers, will be able to upload photos of what the business offers on the Main and Me website. TUPELO CVB TO COMMEMORATE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF ELVIS’ DEATH

TUPELO, Miss. – August, 2012 marks the 35th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death.  Fans from around the world will commemorate the event by traveling to Memphis, Tenn. to visit Graceland, the entertainer’s home and to Tupelo, Miss. to visit his birthplace.  Special activities have been planned by the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau (TCVB) to honor the event.
